Bernie’s Campaign Manager Just Blasted Dan Malloy on Malloy’s Signature IssueMay 10, 2018
According to reporters, Sanders 2016 campaign manager Jeff Weaver goes after Gov. Dan Malloy (D-Conn.) in his new memoir.
The Washington Post published a preview of a new book from Bernie Sanders’ 2016 campaign manager on Thursday. In it, Jeff Weaver – a top Sanders aide from the socialist senator’s surprise presidential campaign – goes aggressively after Gov. Dan Malloy (D-Conn.).
The Post‘s John Wagner reported:
Weaver also takes aim at Connecticut Gov. Dannel Malloy (D), among the Clinton supporters who sought to make the case that Sanders was weaker than Clinton on gun control. Weaver highlights a decision by the Malloy administration to offer loans to gun manufacturers in his state.
“He talked about gun control out of one side of his mouth while providing state dollars to the gun industry out of the other,” Weaver writes,” accusing Malloy of “hypocrisy.”
Weaver may be referring to Malloy’s support for Colt Manufacturing in 2017. The governor announced that March that the Department of Economic and Community Development (DECD) would provide $13 million of taxpayer-backed support to Colt, to retain its “current workforce of 600 employees and … the creation of an additional 100 jobs at the location over the next five years.”
There’s certainly no love lost between Sanders and Malloy. As the CT Post reported in 2016, Sanders’ campaign accused Malloy of “ventur[ing] that Senator Sanders should be ‘held accountable’ for the ‘death and destruction’ caused by his ‘mistakes'” on gun issues.
One thing’s for sure: if Bernie runs in 2020, and somehow wins, Dan Malloy will not be up for a position in his administration.
