Blumenthal: Dems May Kill Bipartisan Gun Bill if We Don’t Get What We Want

The senior senator from Connecticut has threatened to kill a bill co-written by the junior senator from Connecticut.

Is a Blumenthal vs. Murphy battle shaping up in the U.S. Senate?

According to The New York Times, Sen. Richard Blumenthal (D-Conn.) is the “at least one Democratic senator,” as of Thursday, to threaten killing the bipartisan Fix NICS Act – co-written by Sen. Chris Murphy (D-Conn.) – if Democrats don’t get a larger gun debate in the Senate.

And at least one Democratic senator, Richard Blumenthal of Connecticut, said Democrats might seek to block a stand-alone Fix NICS bill, because it does not go far enough.

…“I think that we’ve come to the conclusion that Fix NICS alone would be a mockery of the magnitude of the problem and also the seismic shift in public opinion around this issue,” Mr. Blumenthal said.

Blumenthal is arguing, in essence, that nothing at all is better than something, if Democrats don’t have their demands met. It’s a strange way to govern.
