GOP Senator: Blumenthal, Murphy 2 of Only 5 Senators to Oppose Kavanaugh Before He Was Even Announced

GOP Senator: Blumenthal, Murphy 2 of Only 5 Senators to Oppose Kavanaugh Before He Was Even Announced

A GOP senator tweeted out the senators who are already opposed to Judge Brett Kavanaugh on Tuesday. Blumenthal and Murphy were two of only five who opposed Kavanaugh before he was even announced.

In a possible sign of the partisanship of Sens. Richard Blumenthal (D-Conn.) and Chris Murphy (D-Conn.), the two Connecticut senators were among only five senators in the entire body to oppose the nomination of Judge Brett Kavanaugh before he was even announced.

That’s according to Sen. John Cornyn (R-Texas), who tweeted a list on Tuesday of the senators opposed to Kavanaugh before he was announced as the pick, and another list of senators who have opposed Kavanaugh since.

The other three senators to oppose Kavanaugh before he was even announced were Sens. Bob Casey (D-Pa.), Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.), and Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.). It’s worth noting that Connecticut is the only state in the union with two senators opposed to Kavanaugh before he was announced as the pick.

How can senators oppose someone for a Supreme Court vacancy before the person is even there? The partisanship of Blumenthal and Murphy seems to defy convention.
