BREAKING: Tolls Dead for ’18? House Speaker Says He Doesn’t Have the Votes

Speaker Joe Aresimowicz (D-Berlin) told reporters on Wednesday that he doesn't have the votes needed to pass tolls.

Tolls appear to be dead for the 2018 legislative session, according to Connecticut House of Representatives Speaker Joe Aresimowicz (D-Berlin).

NBC Connecticut’s Max Reiss tweeted on Wednesday:

CT Post‘s Ken Dixon reported the same.

Reclaim Connecticut had noted earlier Wednesday that if all Republicans (71 of them) voted against tolls, only five Democrats would have to vote against tolls to ensure their defeat.

It appears, from Aresimowicz’s announcement, that at least five Democrats oppose tolls at this time.
