Sen. Chris Murphy (D-Conn.) faces backlash after sending a fundraising email this week following the deadly Las Vegas shooting.
Murphy’s email directed donations to his own re-election campaign and three progressive gun control groups.
The Hartford Courant reported:
U.S. Sen. Chris Murphy is facing criticism for a fundraising solicitation he sent by email this week – days after the deadliest mass shooting in modern U.S. history – that directed donations to three gun violence prevention organizations but also to his own re-election campaign.
And a screenshot of the email, from Kevin Rennie of Daily Ructions:
Connecticut’s senators both Murphy and Richard Blumenthal (D-Conn.) have led a push for gun control following the deadly Las Vegas shooting. Murphy has told Congress to “get off its ass” and take action:
Sen. Chris Murphy (D-Conn.) called for Congress to “get off its ass and do something” about gun violence after a deadly Las Vegas mass shooting that left at least 58 people dead.
It’s no secret that Murphy is “in the mix” as a potential 2020 challenger to President Donald Trump. Some suspect that Murphy plans to build up his “war chest” for a run at Trump in a few years.
