Echoes of Trump? Murphy Corrects Reporter on Crowd SizesFebruary 22, 2017
Is Connecticut's junior senator adopting some Trump-like qualities? He loves going on TV. Is he now going to start picking fights about crowd sizes, too?
On Wednesday, Sen. Chris Murphy (D-Conn.) received quite the crowd at his town hall in West Hartford. A Courant reporter said that “hundreds” showed up:

Murphy, however, corrected the reporter on Wednesday morning, via Twitter:
2,000 to be precise. Never seen anything like it. Outraged but respectful. Anxious but optimistic. Filled me w strength to persevere. https://t.co/SBKo1rYXt7

Sound familiar? President Trump has had a long-running fixation with crowd sizes, tweeting in August 2016:
My rallies are not covered properly by the media. They never discuss the real message and never show crowd size or enthusiasm.
— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) August 14, 2016
Trump also blasted the media as “among the most dishonest human beings on earth” after they accurately reported his crowd sizes at the inauguration.
Now, Murphy is not attacking reporters. Still, the crowd size correction did ring a bit familiar for the frequent Trump critic.
