GOP Leader Fasano to Malloy: You’re “An Irrelevant Leader”

The Senate Republican president did not hold back in his assessment of Dan Malloy's daily press conferences, where the governor has tried to poke holes in the budget process.

After Gov. Dan Malloy (D-Conn.) held yet another bitter press conference about bipartisan budget talks on Friday, the Senate Republican president, Len Fasano (R-North Haven) did not hold back in a statement.

“This is Governor Malloy’s third press conference in a row where he has absolutely nothing helpful to say,” Fasano said. “This is an irrelevant leader trying to make himself relevant.”

Fasano continued:

“Instead of being open to a truly bipartisan budget that leaders have worked on day after day together as equals, he continues to make himself an impediment. Governor Malloy has already said that if the state doesn’t adopt a budget, businesses will leave, employers won’t come here, and job losses will grow even more than they already have. If that’s true the governor should be as supportive as possible of lawmakers’ efforts to pass this budget. Instead he appears comfortable sitting on the sidelines lobbing insults and getting nothing done.”

As Reclaim Connecticut pointed out on Friday, some reporters have even seemed to question if Malloy’s press conferences are hurting, not helping, the budget process.

Malloy has been left out of the budget process after vetoing a bipartisan budget last month.

Stay tuned to see if Malloy holds another press conference to talk about his frustrations on Monday.
