Interviewer to Lamont: “Will You Increase Taxes?” Lamont: “Yes.”

The Democrat-endorsed candidate for governor said "yes" to increasing taxes and implementing tolls in Connecticut.

Democratic gubernatorial candidate Ned Lamont said “yes” on Thursday to increasing taxes, and confirmed he would sign a bill that includes a reinstatement of tolls in Connecticut.

Lamont made the comments in an interview on the Chaz & AJ Show.

“Will you increase taxes?” one of the show’s hosts asked Lamont. When Lamont started to caveat his answer, the host pressed him: “Yes or no.”

Lamont’s response? “Yes.”

“Will you a sign a bill that would include tolls?” the host then asked.

Lamont’s response? “Yes.”

The audio was flagged by the Republican Governors Association (RGA), who tied Lamont to Gov. Dan Malloy (D-Conn.) in their response.

Ned Lamont has spent his entire campaign touting Dan Malloy’s tax-hiking policies, promising to continue them for a third term. No matter how hard he tries to run away from his party’s toxic governor, Connecticut voters know that he’s just another Malloy Enabler committed to raising their taxes and crushing job growth.

We’ll give Lamont one thing: his affirmative responses are honest. But with many Connecticut voters feeling they’ve been taxed enough over eight years, the answers may come to haunt Lamont come the November election.
