Murphy Signals Openness to Blocking Trump’s SCOTUS PickFebruary 1, 2017
Sen. Chris Murphy (D-Conn.), upset over the GOP's treatment of Merrick Garland in 2016, opened the door to blocking Trump's SCOTUS pick Neil Gorsuch.
On Tuesday night, Sen. Chris Murphy (D-Conn.) released his initial reaction to Donald Trump’s Supreme Court pick, Neil Gorsuch, withholding most judgment:

At the same time, though, Murphy told the liberal Huffington Post that he’s willing to block a Trump Supreme Court pick after what Republicans did to Obama’s pick, Merrick Garland, last year:
“The ghost of Merrick Garland still floats around part of this place,” said Sen. Chris Murphy (D-Conn.).
“I’m going to take a look at his nominee … but let’s make it clear: This is a different process now because of what they did last year,” he said. “They made the decision to politicize the Supreme Court process, and ultimately they’ll have to own that.”
Murphy also griped about Garland over Twitter:

However, last year, Murphy told Republicans that they “need to do their job” and hold a hearing on Garland. Will Murphy return the Senate to ordinary business for Gorsuch, or will he join other Democrats in giving Gorsuch the Garland treatment? He’s one to watch.
