New Report Delivers MORE Low Rankings for CT on Business ClimateNovember 28, 2017
Forbes ranked Connecticut low on a number of factors that influence a state's business climate, another confirmation the state needs reform if it's to retain businesses large and small.
Connecticut came in 42nd out of 50 states in Forbes‘ latest version of “Best States For Business.”
Only eight states came in behind Connecticut, three in New England (Rhode Island, Maine, Vermont), two off the continental U.S. (Hawaii, Alaska), and three scattered around the country (Mississippi, New Mexico, West Virginia).
Connecticut ranked high on “Quality of Life,” meaning it was the state’s regulatory, economic, and growth environments, and business costs, that sunk it in the eyes of Forbes.
- Business Costs: #41 of 50
- Labor Supply: #33 of 50
- Regulatory Environment: #42 of 50
- Economic Climate: #42 of 50
- Growth Prospects: #43 of 50
- Quality of Life: #5 of 50
Connecticut’s neighbors to the north (Massachusetts) and to the west (New York) fared much better, at #19 and #29, respectively.
