New WaPo 2020 Dems Ranking; See Where Chris Murphy Lands
July 6, 2018
The junior senator is widely thought to at least be considering a presidential run in 2020. Here's where he stands among other Democrats, according to The Washington Post.
Sen. Chris Murphy (D-Conn.) is considering a presidential run in 2020. Or, maybe he’s not. Maybe he’s just keeping his options open.
Either way, Murphy’s public denials have not been enough to keep him off The Washington Post‘s latest list of “The top 15 Democratic presidential candidates for 2020, ranked.”
Where does Murphy stand? At #11, according to the Post‘s Aaron Blake:
Sen. Chris Murphy (Conn.): Murphy has said he won’t run, but the New York Times reported recently that he’s among those keeping tabs on much-sought-after New York donors. (Previous ranking: 7)
That puts him ahead of a few other national figures, like Gov. Andrew Cuomo (D-N.Y., #12) and celebrity Oprah Winfrey (#15).
Murphy falls in behind five of his colleagues in the U.S. Senate, though, including: Sens. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt., #1), Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass., #2), Kamala Harris (D-Calif., #3), Cory Booker (D-N.J., #5), and Kirsten Gillibrand (D-N.Y., #6).
