Speculation Nation: Blumenthal Says 99% Chance Manafort, Flynn Will Be IndictedSeptember 27, 2017
The senior senator from Connecticut left little doubt that he thinks indictments are coming for two top associates of Donald Trump's 2016 campaign.
Michael Flynn and Paul Manafort, two top associates of Donald Trump’s campaign, have a “99 percent” chance of being indicted, according to Connecticut’s senior senator Richard Blumenthal.
Sen. Blumenthal (D-Conn.) told Politico on Tuesday:
“I’m about 99 percent sure there will be some criminal charges from this investigation,” said Blumenthal, a member of the Senate Judiciary Committee. Blumenthal has also served as a U.S. attorney and spent 20 years as his state’s attorney general.
…Manafort and Flynn “are the most prominent,” he said, “but there may well be others.”
Blumenthal has carved out a role as a leading Senate Democrat talking about Donald Trump’s alleged ties to Russia.
Connecticut’s other senator, Chris Murphy (D-Conn.), spent Tuesday taking a victory lap after the Senate GOP announced it will not vote on Obamacare repeal this week.
8 months in. No border wall. No trickle down tax cut. No health care repeal.
