Yankee Institute Places 72 “Toll Trolls” at State Capitol to Protest Toll Proposals

This is sure to get lawmakers' attention.

The Yankee Institute, a non-profit organization advocating for free-market policies in the state, introduced a campaign to “Troll Your Lawmaker” on Tuesday, in protest of forthcoming tolls proposals in the state legislature.

The Yankee Institute’s campaign included a visual element sure to catch lawmakers’ attention: 72 “toll trolls” stationed on the Capitol lawn in Hartford.

Yankee Institute captured the effort in a tweet:

The 72 “toll trolls” represent “72 electronic toll gantries on I-84, I-95, I-91, and the Merritt and Wilbur Cross parkways” that some lawmakers want to put up.

Yankee Institute pointed out that Connecticut residents will likely pay around 70 percent of tolls. Reclaim Connecticut has pointed out that this effectively makes any toll plan a tax on Connecticut drivers.
